The Press'n Pad

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pressing pad?

A pressing pad is a certified heat-resistant pad used during heat styling with a pressing comb. It helps seal and silk the hair while protecting your hands and skin from heat up to 600°F. With the right technique, it adds natural shine and supports healthier, smoother press results.

How to Use the Press'n Pad

  1. Always work on clean, dry hair.
  2. Keep the pad dry—do not apply any products to it.
  3. Some shedding is normal; over time, the pad will harden and provide better support.
  4. Test the pressing comb heat on the pad first to ensure it’s not too hot.
  5. Attach the pad to your hand (right or left), hold the hair with the same hand, and press from root to tip.
  6. Repeat on each section, using steady pressure and controlled heat. Slow, careful work gives the best results.

Can I wash the Press'n Pad?

No. Washing removes the natural residue and oils that help create shine.

Always use the pad on clean, dry hair only. If the pad gets wet, let it air-dry completely. Excess moisture or harsh oils/products may permanently damage it.

Does the Press'n Pad contain nuts or any harmful materials?

No. It contains no nut-based ingredients or harmful materials.

My Press'n Pad looks like it has lint or shredding, can I pull it off?

No. Please avoid pulling lint fibers off. Over time, natural fibers and oils build a protective layer that actually helps the hair glide smoothly. Pulling or cutting fibers can thin the pad and reduce its performance. With regular use, the fibers will gradually settle on their own.

How long does a pressing pad last and can I use it for every pressing service?

With proper care, a pressing pad can last several years. While results vary by hair texture and technique, the pad is safe for all pressing services when used correctly and does not damage the hair.

Do I need to use the insert that is sold separately?

It’s optional, but recommended. The insert adds extra protection, improves grip, and reduces heat transfer. Stylists using higher heat or who want more control tend to prefer using the insert.

Can I use the Press'n Pad with other heat tools?

Yes. The Press'n Pad is a versatile, heat-resistant tool that can be used with a variety of heat styling tools. It helps you manage and control heat, making it especially useful for tools that are not plug-in or adjustable. Please note: for plug-in irons with built-in temperature controls, the pressing pad will not lower the heat. It is designed to tame heat from direct sources, such as stove-top tools, prior to applying them to the hair.
